- Aluminum takes 500 years to break down in a landfill
- When you throw away one aluminum can, you waste as much energy as if you had filled the can half full of gasoline and poured it into the ground
- There is no limit to the number of times aluminum can be recycled
- 2 out of 3 pounds of new steel are produced from old steel
- You can make 20 steel cans out of recycled material with the same amount of energy it takes to make 1 new one
- For every ton of paper recycled 17 trees are saved
- 17 trees can absorb 250lbs of carbon dioxide from the air each year while burning that same ton of paper would create 1500lbs of carbon dioxide
